About WSAH4700
The product specifications indicate it's designed for a 220VAC power supply input, as it's primarily targeted at European markets where that's the standard voltage. It will not run directly on 120V US household voltage without modification or additional equipment.
If you're in the US and want to use this board, here are your main options:
- Use an external step-up voltage converter/transformer rated for at least 1.2VA (to convert 120V to 220V). This is the simplest plug-and-play approach.
- Replace the kit's included transformer (which has a 220V primary) with a compatible 120V primary transformer that matches the secondary specs (dual 6V / 0.1A outputs) and fits the PCB mounting holes. This requires soldering skills, as it's a DIY kit, but it's doable—some users have successfully sourced replacements like this for US compatibility.
Please check the assembly manual and datasheets available on the Velleman support page for full wiring details and safety warnings before proceeding.
