Bi-polar Stepper Motor Driver kit

This kit will drive a bi-polar stepper motor driver using
externally supplied 5V levels for steping and direction.
These usually come from software running in a computer.

Unipolar Stepper Motor Driver

In free-standing mode an internal square-wave oscillator
based on IC2:B of the 4093 supplies timing pulses to the
OSC output. The frequency of these pulses and thus the
speed of the stepper motor is controlled by the trimpot
VR1 (100K.) A series 1K resistor controls the maximum
frequency. You may increase the value of this resistor for
your own needs. These pulses are fed into the STEP input
which is buffered and inverted by IC2:D. This helps
prevent false triggering. Similarly, IC2:C buffers and
inverts the DIRection input. A SPDT taking the input to
+5VDC or ground controls the direction of rotation.

Servo Motor Driver using PIC16C71 1-4

Using a PIC 16C71, a crystal, 8 resistors & 4 capacitors this kit will independently control up to 4 servo motors. We do not supply the potentiometers or servo motors. (a Futaba FP-S148 was used in the tests.) 5V DC power supply required. Full instructions provided.
Servo motors are used in radio-controlled models (cars, planes), robotics, theme park special effects, test equipment, industrial automation. At the hobbyist end of the market they are small, compact and relatively inexpensive at around US$20. The motors themselves are black boxes which contain a motor, gearbox and decoder electronics. Three wires go into the box; 5V, ground and signal. A short shaft comes out of the motor which usually has a circular interface plate attached to it. Most servos will rotate through about 100 degrees in less than a second according to the signal input. This kit will control up to 4 servo motors simultaneously. (CPS102)

Bidirectional DC Motor Speed Controller

This kit allows controlling the speed of a DC motor in both the forward and reverse direction. The range of control is from fully OFF to fully ON in both directions. Normally, switches are used to change the direction of rotation of a DC motor. Change the polarity of the applied voltage and the motor spins the other way! However this has the disadvantage that a DPDT switch has to be added to change the polarity of the applied voltage. Now you have two things to control the motor – a direction switch as well as the speed control. Also, it is not a good idea to suddenly reverse the voltage on a DC motor while it is spinning. It can cause a current surge that can burn out the speed controller. Not to mention any mechanical stress it can cause as well. (CPS166)

DC Motor Speed Controller  (Out of Stock)

This kit will control the speed of any common DC motor rated up to 100V (7A). Operates on 5V to 15V. Uses a NE556 to pulse-width modulate a high current switching power transistor, IRF530 MOSFET. In this way motor torque is maintained. Adjustable speed control. (CPS67)

IR Remote Control and Decoder IC

This Kit uses a commercial 14-pin remote control unit to put an active low signal onto one of 14 pins on a decoder IC. That is, when a RC button is pressed, the pin corresponding to that button on the decoder IC goes low. Normally, each of the 14 output pins is high. It is up to the user to use this information in their own circuit where remote control is required. For example, to control up to 14 relays or to control the movement of a robot. We supply all the necessary extra components required for the decoder IC to function properly. No PCB is supplied. It is up to the user to breadboard their application then make their own PCB. A sample application/test circuit is provided. A 330Ω resistor & LED are supplied for testing the active low on a pin in response to a button press. (CPS92)

3 LDR Kits in One

We provide 3 complete Light/Dark LDR circuits each with a relay on-board. Each is a simple, well-tried circuit: one uses two transistors in a super-Darlington setup, the second uses a LM741 op-amp while the third uses a Schmidt Trigger. Each board has a PCB-mounted switch to convert the circuit from light to dark switching and vice versa. There is nothing original in these circuits - they have been around for years. What we have done is bring three good circuits together all in the one kit for you to build & experiment with.(CPS79)

LDR Kit 1

Uses two transistors in a super-Darlington setup. By reading about all three Light/Dark Kits you will be able to decide which circuit is the best for your particular application. If your application is in very bright or very dark conditions then you can easily experiment with different resistor values to get better control over the switching range you need. There is nothing original in these circuits. We have taken them from published material (see end of this paper for References.) But we have redesigned them each onto similar PCB's to allow easy comparison. And in addition a light/dark option has been incorporated into each. We say 'light/dark' because each circuit has a PCBmounted switch on-board. In one switch position a lightto-dark transition will activate the relay. In the other position a dark-to-light transition is required. So you can use the light falling on the detector to switch on a normally off circuit, or switch off a normally on circuit. (CPS79A).

Touch/Contact Switch

Both types of switches are built onto the one PCB so you can see and explore how each type works. A battery can power the touch switch (2 contacts) but a power supply (like CPS4) must be used for the touch plate (1 terminal) to work. High quality 12V relay rated at switching 240V/3A supplied. Uses 14011 IC. (CPS10)

Touch Switch

You can turn on almost any electrical device with this
switch, and the switch auromatically turns off a short time
later. As you will see you can determine how much later –
less than a second to over one minute – just by changing
the value of one resistor.
The kit uses a 12V relay to do the switching. It is rated at
250V/12A. The Dinkle brand 3 pole terminal block is also
rated and approved for this voltage and current. So the
switch can be used for switching AC as well as DC. It is
best to use a 9V – 12VDC regulated or unregulated
plugpack for the power supply. Do not go over 15VDC
input.

Dual HI / LO Switching Relay Board

The kit is based around the ULN2003A IC, a 7-channel high voltage, high current relay driver. The inputs are TTL compatible so they can be connected to 5V. LO 0-0.8VDC. HI 2.4V - 12VDC. Operating voltage: 12V DC. The relay will be operated when either the LO input is
low (0 – 0.8V) or the HI input is high (2.4V – 12V.). Two 12V relays, coil resistance 400 ohm are used. It is rated to switch 250VAC at 12A. However, because of the PCB track thickness and width we do not recommend using the relay to switch more than 5A. PCB size: 2 3/4"x1 3/4" (CPS156)

Relay Board for 2 x 1A Miniature Relays

Quite often the hobbyist needs to use a relay. For example the output of a PIR has output pads for the alarm signal which must be connected to a remote switching device. To fill needs like these we have two kits which are just a relay, PCB and terminal blocks for the input/output signals. There are many relay pin-outs & drive voltages to select from. We have standardized on two 12V relays from Goodsky Relay Board for 2 x 1A Miniature Relays(CPS45)
