The popular C328 using the OV7640/7660 sensor and OV528 JPEG engine was discontinued and is no longer available. One new substitute is the C329 camera board which uses the OV7725 sensor and OV529 JPEG engine. The other substitute is the C429, which uses MT9v011+VC706 sensor.

IR Cut-switch Device 5V (Device B)

IR cut filters are great for day time images, because the sunlight does not cause a pink hue in the image. However they do not work at night because it blocks out light from an IR light illuminator. The same it true in reverse, without a IR cut filter the night time images turn out very good but the daytime images have a pink discoloration. This cut switch allows the IR filter to be turned on and off. The IR Cut Switch filters out intensive light to create more beautiful and natural image color in either day or night.

C429-EVKIT

The C429-EVKIT is a ready-made 6-pin to RS232 cable, a schematic of which is also illustrated on the C429-series camera data sheets. Instead of building it yourself, however, we've built it for you here. With this cable and any C429-series camera(s), users can send a snapshot command from the host in order to capture a full resolution, single-frame still picture (MT9v011+VC706 sensor). The picture is then compressed by the JPEG engine (VC706) and transferred to the host.

This low-cost USB CMOS board camera module is ideal for many applications such as security systems, portable video systems, video phones, industrial machine monitoring and toys. It uses high quality OmniVision image sensors. Although this camera is not designed as a consumer item, it remains a popular choice for equipment manufacturers, experimenters and hobbyists.

We tested this camera with Skype on a computer running Windows 7 & Linux by plugging it in and rebooting the system. It showed up with no problems.

NOTE: This camera is currently shipped without a cable. We have some being made and they will ship with the camera starting in March.

C429-L36TTL JPEG Compression VGA Camera Module WITH IR-CUT filter mounted on sensor & 3.6mm lens

The C429 JPEG compression module performs as a video camera or a JPEG compressed still camera. Users can send a snapshot command from the host in order to capture a full resolution, single-frame still picture (MT9v011+VC706 sensor). The picture is then compressed by the JPEG engine (VC0706) and transferred to the host. Use our RS232 shifter (PRT00449) to build your own EV kit. Software for the camera is also included. (This is another replacement for the C328 cameras even though the command-set is not identical to that used in them.) INCLUDES built-in IR-CUT FILTER on sensor, 3.6mm LENS, & 6 pin cable w/connector.
