C328 Cameras
 
The popular C328 and C328R JPEG compression modules performs as a video camera or a JPEG compressed still camera.
 
The C328-XXXXyy uses an OV7640 sensor. The C328R-XXXXyy uses an OV7660 sensor.

We generally stock only the C328R-XXXXyy in stock. However we can special order the older C328-XXXXyy version (which will contain an OV7640 sensor in a CLCC package.

XXXXyy refers to the lens attached to the camera for example C328R-3620IR means it is an OV7660 sensor and the following lens attached: f = 3.6 mm and F/No 2.0 WITH an IR cut filter.

Or another example: C328R-3620BW means it is an OV7660 sensor and the following lens attached: f = 3.6 mm and F/No 2.0 WITH OUT an IR cut filter.

The C328 JPEG compression module performs as a video camera or a JPEG compressed
still camera. Users can send out a snapshot command from the host in order to
capture a full resolution single-frame still picture (OV76xx sensor). The
picture is then compressed by the JPEG engine (OV528) and transferred to the
host.

These cut filters are an insert lens for the cameras; if you remove the 2 screws that attach the camera to the pcb, they can be installed and fit directly into the camera.  The filters have a lightpass at about 860nm and are designed to work with IR LEDs emitting at 860nm.  This allows the cameras to work during daylight and at night using IR.
