Serial Isolated I/O Module (kit)

(Full Documentation in pdf Format)

Q: Can this module be used in standalone mode?
A: No. It needs to be connected to a PC. However the state of the relays will be "remembered" and will not change when disconnected from the PC.

USB/RS485 I/O Controller (Relayduino)

KTA-223 ‘Relayduino’ USB/RS485 IO Module:

The KTA-223 is a USB or RS485 controlled IO module for interfacing PCs to real world applications, such as controlling lights and sprinkler systems, reading sensors and monitoring switches and other digital signals. The Relays are capable of switching up to 5A at 250VAC, 10A at 120VAC and 10A at 24VDC but the PCB tracks will only handle up to about 5A. A simple ASCII protocol allows control from Windows/Mac/Linux using either USB Virtual COM drivers or RS485. Additionally, multiple devices can be connected to one RS485 bus, allowing control of many devices from one USB port.

The controller is based on the hardware of the Arduino physical computing controllers. It can be programmed as a stand-alone controller using the free, open source Arduino environment. Internally, the controller is “shield compatible”, allowing the use of many extension boards designed for the Arduino Deumilanove. As shipped the controller is loaded with a sketch that receives simple commands over the USB or RS485 serial port and switches relays or responds with the status of inputs.

Multiple controllers can be connected to one or more PCs in an RS485 network. Each controller can be assigned an address and will respond to commands addressed to them.

Features:

  •  8 Relay Outputs 5A 250VAC
  • 4 Opto-Isolated Inputs 5-30VDC
  • 3 Analog Inputs (10 bit)
  • Connections via Pluggable Screw Terminals
  • 0-5V or 0-20mA Analog Inputs, Jumper Selectable
  • 5A Relay Switching
  • Power Indicator LED
  • All enclosed in Professional looking plastic case
  • Arduino Compatible
  • Accepts Arduino Shields (Ethernet / XBee)
  • USB Virtual Serial Port or RS485 Input
  • Easily connect multiple units far apart by RS485

Modbus I/O Module 12VDC Powered

Description: The KTA-224 is a Modbus Slave IO module for interfacing to any PLC or PC using the Modbus protocol. It behaves as a Modbus Slave and Relays, Inputs and Outputs are controlled by writing to and reading from the Coils and Holding Registers. It can be used for many applications such as controlling lights and sprinkler systems, reading sensors and monitoring switches and other digital signals, or even for industrial control.

The module can connect to a standard RS485 2-wire half duplex network or to a computer via USB. When connected via USB, the module acts as a USB to RS485 converter and multiple IO units (or other Modbus devices) can be connected to the RS485 bus. USB drivers are available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

The user can save a set of output statuses to be loaded when the unit is powered up or reset. A watchdog timer can be configured to reset the unit after a user-definable number of seconds since the last communication from a Modbus master.

PC Printer Port Relay Board (Assembled) (version 2)

Do you have an old PC lying around the house which absolutely no one wants? Then you can convert it into a dedicated controller. Communicate with the real world via the parallel printer port on your PC. Simply connect a DB25 straight trough cable from computer to DB25 connector on the relay board. There are 8 relays each capable of switching 12VDC/10A or 240VAC/5A. Each relay has an LED to indicate when it is operated. We provide two sets of complete, stand-alone software to control the relays: one works under DOS so you can write your own batch files to control individual relays, the other works under Windows. Needs 12VDC center positive 2.5mm power supply. PCB Size 6.75" x 2.75" (CPA74)

Parallel port output module (V2) (Assembled)

Once stock on hand is sold out for this item, it will no longer be available as pre-assembled. It will still be available as a kit requiring soldering.

This is our Kit 74V2 but put into a box with top quality Dinkle connectors to the relays. With the rapid progress in computer technology many people now have a surplus computer just gathering dust somewhere. Thus these computers are free to be used as dedicated controllers for a variety of uses: turning on/off lights or other devices around the home, office, laboratory or factory come to mind. All that is needed is the interface to connect it to the real world. (CPA165)
