This item is our replacement product for the C328 camera module which is phasing out. Please note the command-set of the C329 and C328 is not identical.
The C329 UART JPEG compression module performs as a video camera or a JPEG compressed still camera. Users can send out a snapshot command from the host in order to capture a full resolution single-frame still picture (OV7725 sensor). The picture is then compressed by the JPEG engine (OV529) and transferred to the host.

This is the
monochrome (B & W)
version of the C329-UART board using a OV07221 sensor instead of a OV7725.
This item is our replacement product for the C328V camera module which is phasing out. Please note the command-set of the C329BW and C328V is not identical.

Users can send out a snapshot command from the host in order to capture a full resolution single-frame still picture (OV07221 sensor). The picture is then compressed by the JPEG engine (OV529) and transferred to the host. This OV07221 sensor should be more sensitive to light, which might work well especially for night time vision with an IR array.

Special SMD Version:
Because Atmel is moving more and more of their production capacity to surface mount ICs, the DIP packaged ATmega328 is becoming more and more difficult to get. To keep up with demand, we now offer the Arduino Uno with an SMD ATmega328. The board is identical to the PTH version of the Uno, but you won't be able to remove the ATmega328 without some hot-air. This change shouldn't affect most users. Besides - when was the last time you managed to destroy an ATmega328 and needed to repair an Arduino board? Those things are nearly indestructible.
