Force Sensitive Resistor 0.5"
 
Description: This is a force sensitive resistor with a round, 0.5" diameter, sensing area. This FSR will vary its resistance depending on how much pressure is being applied to the sensing area. The harder the force, the lower the resistance. When no pressure is being applied to the FSR its resistance will be larger than 1MΩ. This FSR can sense applied force anywhere in the range of 100g-10kg.

Two pins extend from the bottom of the sensor with 0.1" pitch making it bread board friendly. There is a peel-and-stick rubber backing on the other side of the sensing area to mount the FSR.

These sensors are simple to set up and great for sensing pressure, but they aren't incredibly accurate. Use them to sense if it's being squeezed, but you may not want to use it as a scale.

Copernicus II DIP Module
 
Description: The Copernicus II is a great new GPS module from Trimble, but the SMD module prohibits immediate gratification. This DIP allows the customer to gain direct access to the pins on the SMD module. Simply provide 2.7 - 3.3VDC. The Copernicus II DIP breakout has an impedance-matched, end-launch, standard SMA connector that will mate with our SMA GPS antennas listed below.

This revision of the board does away with the pin-headers so that you can decide whether or not you want to solder pins to the board.

Description: Under-powering a digital device can sometimes have pretty nasty consequences. Brown-out conditions can cause memory to get written or overwritten in odd ways, can cause unexpected behavior in connected systems and just generally screw up your day. One way to avoid this is to keep an eye on your battery voltage and turn off the system before it gets too low (or plug it in). We've whipped up a little board to help you out with this situation: the "Uh-oh" battery level indicator.

At the heart of the "Uh-oh" board is the TL431ACLPG shunt regulator diode. The reference voltage can be adjusted by using the trimpot on board. When the battery connected to the board reaches that voltage, the shunt allows current to flow through the LED, alerting you to a low battery situation. In order to set the appropriate reference voltage, you can use the formula found in the schematic to calculate your desired resistance and set it using the trimpot and a multimeter measuring resistance across the provided test points.

This board comes as a "bag of parts" kit. All of the parts are through-hole and it shouldn't take long to solder together. The footprint of each part is clearly marked on the PCB to help you throw it together.

Note: It turns out you can replace the LED with the digital input of a 5V microcontroller. This allows you to write interrupts for low battery management. The output hovers just below 2V at "low" so it may work better on some micros than others. There is a picture in the "drill-down" page behind this one of this system implemented on an Arduino Uno.

Arduino and Breadboard Holder  (Out of Stock)
 
Description: We've been prototyping for a long time on these awesome little plastic plates but it's time for an upgrade. This version still holds an Arduino and a self-adhesive clear breadboard but we've done away with the plastic clips and now provide screws which give you a more solid and simple connection. Also, because the outside dimensions of the board don't matter anymore, this plate can be used with any board that has the Arduino mounting holes. The Arduino Mega R3, The Uno, The Leonardo, FEZ Panda even the Electric Sheep can all be screwed down to the base plate for easy prototyping. You can even mount the board facing either way you like.

This prototyping holder includes 2 screws for mounting your favorite dev board. The self-adhesive breadboard that fits this plate can be found in the related items below.
